  • Vestas Blades Windsor Plant
    GROUND Engineering provided a full range of materials testing and laboratory testing services on the new Vestas Blades Windsor Plant located in Windsor, Colorado. The project included the construction of a 360,000 square foot steel framed facility founded on a spread footing foundation. The facility includes offices, process structures, shipping terminal and will produce an average of 2,000 blades yearly.
  • Colorado Green Wind Farm
    GROUND Engineering provided geotechnical exploration and construction materials testing for the large Colorado Green Wind Farm Project located to the south of Lamar in Prowers County, Colorado. The project includes approximately 130 large wind turbines, access roads and transmission lines servicing the facility. Field geotechnical testing included extensive down-hole pressure meter testing, allowing determination of in-situ strength parameters.
  • Suncor Refinery
    The Suncor Oil Refinery Upgrades project, located in Commerce City, Colorado, is a $300 million expansion project including extensive amounts of overexcavation for entirely new units as well as for a crane pad foundation. This foundation was utilized for a large transi-lift of a reactor weighing over 1.3 million pounds. GROUND provided an on-site mobile laboratory to generate lab results rapidly and provide efficient real-time data generation.
  • Hudson Prison
    The Hudson Prison is a medium security women's prison located on over 120 acres in Hudson, Colorado. The construction included approximately 34 acres of site development, four detention buildings, and a 60,000-square-foot administration and support facility. In addition, the project included an 8,000 square foot recreation building, a 7,600-square-foot maintenance facility, and a 1,600-square-foot gate house. The foundation construction included driven piles and the structures generally were constructed of CMU and pre-cast concrete.
  • Granby Landfill
    GROUND provided geotechnical and construction materials testing for various projects within the Granby Landfill including the new maintenance facility, compaction for several landfill cells, the detention berm and geological investigations for unique geological features associated with the landfill site.
  • Cedar Creek Wind Farm
    The Cedar Creek Wind Farm is a 274 wind turbine facility located east of Grover in north-central Weld County, Colorado. Cedar Creek is an important contributor to Colorado's New Energy Economy, providing enough wind-powered electricity for 90,000 homes. The project has 221 1-MW wind turbines and 53 1.5-MW turbines. GROUND provided construction materials testing for this remote project location through the utilization of an on-site mobile laboratory and full time field and on-site lab technicians.
  • Red Hills Wind Project
    GROUND Engineering Consultants provided materials testing services for the Red Hills Wind Project located near Elk City, Oklahoma. The project included 82 wind turbines, access roads and transmission lines servicing the facility. GROUND provided 4 full-time field technicians, mobile laboratory and concrete curing facility in order to provide rapid test results that met the demands of a tight construction schedule.
  • Sterling Ethanol Plant
    The Sterling Ethanol Plant located in Sterling, Colorado consisted of a new $52 million ethanol production facility including a raw material receiving station, laboratory, milling and refining facility, the processing/fermentation areas of the plant and the product shipping terminal. Construction included site grading, utility conduit, roadway and parking paving and the vertical construction of offices, process structures and the shipping terminal. GROUND provided timely test results and reports from our on-site mobile laboratory and field office.
