- Parker Adventist Hospital
GROUND Engineering provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials
testing for the Parker Adventist Hospital located at the Crown Point Development
in Parker, Colorado. The project included a four-story, 200+ bed hospital, approximately
400,000 square feet in size, a 180,000 square foot medical office building, associated
infrastructure, and several acres of asphalt-paved parking, vehicle entrances, and
retaining walls were also addressed. Due to the expansive nature of the site earth
materials and the floor tolerances required for the hospital equipment, a drilled
pier foundation system with a structural floor system was used to support the structures.
GROUND also provided a full-service, on-site mobile laboratory during construction.

- Exempla/Lutheran Medical Center
The Exempla/Lutheran Medical Center project located in Wheatridge, CO included the
construction of a six level above grade building addition with one level below grade.
The building addition has a footprint of approximately 68,000 SF with a total building
area exceeding 350,000 SF. The project required working within an active medical
campus, selective demolition to detach the existing structures, shoring of the excavated
basement and installation of a new lateral H-pile steel bracing system. The building
addition is founded on drilled pier and grade beam foundation systems with a structural
steel frame.

- St. Joseph ASC / MOB
The project generally consisted of the construction of a 30,000 square foot 5-story
medical office building, a 46,650 square foot 5-story parking structure and associated
sitework. The foundation construction consists of a drilled pier and grade beam
foundation system with a slab on grade. The medical office building consists of
structural steel framing and the parking garage consists of post-tensioned concrete
slabs with cast-in-place concrete support columns.

- Grand River Medical Center
The Grand River Medical Center Expansion located in Rifle, CO included a two story
South addition with a building footprint of approximately 10,530 SF, a three-story
medical office building addition with a footprint of approximately 24,640 SF, a
one story connector addition and a one story emergency room expansion. GROUND provided
testing services that included observations of the drilled piers, reinforcing steel,
spray applied fireproofing, and testing of the soils, concrete and masonry in addition
to structural steel inspection and observations. Our soil testing at the project
included subgrade testing for floor slabs, structural fill testing, utility backfill
and exterior flatwork subgrade. Masonry testing included prism, mortar and grout
compressive strength tests in addition to reinforcing steel observations. Concrete
testing included slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight tests on fresh
concrete. Additionally compressive strength cylinders were tested. Structural steel
inspections included bolt tensioning, visual inspection and ultrasonic testing of
moment welds.
