- Rueter-Hess Dam and Reservoir
GROUND Engineering provided quality assurance construction observation and materials
testing services for the new construction of the Rueter-Hess Dam and Reservoir in
Parker, Colorado. The Rueter-Hess Dam has 22,000 acre-feet of active water storage
and is classified as a Large, Class I (High Hazard) dam based on its size and relative
risk to population. The 7,700 LF long crest has a maximum height of 195 feet from
the existing streambed and required approximately 12.5 million cubic yards of material
placement. All laboratory testing was conducted at the on-site materials laboratory,
provided by GROUND. Additional testing provided by GROUND includes ultrasonic and
radiographic weld testing for steel piping.

- Chimney Park Pipeline
GROUND Engineering performed weld inspection and testing in support of the construction
of approximately 2 miles of 60 inch steel water pipeline in Weld County, Colorado.
GROUND provided Certified Weld Inspectors (CWI) to provide visual and Non-Destructive
Testing (NDT) for each single welded lap joint in accordance with ANSI/AWS D.1.1.

- Clifton Water Treatment Plant
The project consisted of the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility
located in Clifton, CO with approximately 1.5 miles of a new sewer interceptor line
to consolidate the three existing lagoon facilities within the planning area. The
project also includes decommissioning of the existing lagoon systems owned by the
two Districts as per regulatory requirements. GROUND provided materials testing
services that included soil, concrete, masonry, drilled pier observation, reinforcing
steel observations and asphalt testing. Soils testing at the projects included structural
backfill material. Masonry testing included prism, mortar, and grout compressive
strength tests, as well as reinforcing steel observations. Concrete testing included
fresh concrete properties and compressive strength testing.

- Eagle River Sanitation District Water Treatment Plant
GROUND Engineering provided geotechnical recommendations for design and construction
of the expansion of the Town of Eagle’s Waste Water Treatment Plant. The additional
facilities included Headwork Building, Clarifier, Parshall Flume, UV Disinfectant
Building, WAS Storage Tanks and Solids Handling Building with a total of 16,550
square feet for the expansion. The foundation systems are founded on varying thicknesses
of structural fill placed above the existing sands and gravels.
